My "Walls" project is a story literally told by actual walls. This is the story of ambiguity. Story of getting old. Story of messages never received or understood. Story about changed meanings and changed purposes. Story of pain. Story about loosing memories. Story of abandoning your past and being unable or unwilling to understand the history. The wall is mute. Speechless. It just stands there to keep the construction and to be a part of construction, but it is also a witness and an acting part of the history. Also, it is a living and changing organism that changes in a time, but brings you traces of the past. You may try to read them, preserve them, ignore them, deny them, hide them or destroy those traces. The wall may protect or constrain, defend or punish. The wall may communicate or help communicate. The wall can be a shelter or a grave. People say "behind a wall" (protected) or "against a wall" (enforced); people say "between these walls" (comfort, tradition, succession) or "within four walls" (constrained, imprisoned). In my series, the walls act both as a witnesses and as an evidence. They bring and show you the traces of times and you can read them, you can try to decode them, attribute them to times and make your own judgments and conclusions. |
